For some 9 year olds, it’s all about playing dolls and lolling around making loom band bracelets. For young Rylea May van Alhen of New Zealand though, it’s a whole different story! The talented youngster has been competing as an athlete for half of her 9 years, and now hopes to be able to get to the US Open Cheer and Dance Nationals. The competition will be held in California next year. The youngster said that ever since watching a cheerleading movie called Bring It On, she wanted to be a professional cheerleader.
COVENTRY Dynamite Cheerleaders were the stand-out performers at the ninth annual Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards.
The largest and most successful cheerleading club in the Midlands received two of the four gongs at the awards evening held at St John's Hotel in Solihull on Thursday.
They were crowned Team of the Year while coach Sarah Biggs was named Coach of the Year.
It capped an incredible 12 months for the club which included securing the highest score at the USASF Cheerleading Worlds 2013 in Florida, USA.
