The new school year is upon us and that means the new cheerleading season is here. The economy does not have to put a damper on your cheer season. Put your best cheer foot forward and consider these three money saving tips for this season:

  1. Carpool to games and cheer practice. As a parent, a lot of your time is spent driving your girls to cheer practice, games and other sporting events. Have you considered starting a carpool with other parents? Carpools are easy to start and just require a little planning and cooperation with other parents to get one started.
  2. Gather your whole cheer team and commit some time to helping your community. Small donations can be made in exchange of your team completing a home or landscaping project. This extra money will come in handy for those unexpected travelling expenses to championships. Think outside of the box when it comes to fundraising. If your team needs extra money, then consider a unique way to raise it.
  3. Car washes are held all over the country in efforts to raise money. Organize a car wash but put a spin on the "details." Instead of just washing the outside of the vehicle, offer to detail the inside of the vehicle to draw in more customers. Car detailing can be very costly but you can save your customers a ton of money by offering this service at your next car wash fundraising event.

What unique skills do cheerleaders on your team have? Brainstorm with your group to create a fundraising event that caters to your cheerleading team.
