SECRET DIARY THREE CASTING SESSIONS HAVE RECORD TURNOUT

Cheerleaders Come From Around the US to Audition

April 16, 2014, Austin, Texas - Cheer Channel Inc., CCI, the #1 online news and entertainment network for the spirit industry, held open casting calls that took place in Los Angeles, California the week of April 1st and 7th for lead roles in The Cheer Channel's hit web-series, "Secret Diary of An American Cheerleader Three: First Crush" presented by Chassé™. Teenagers of all ages, many dressed in cheerleading uniforms, turned out for the auditions.

 

The open casting call attracted actors, as well as cheerleaders from local gyms and teams, many waiting for more than 2 hours to have a quick meet with the casting directors and producers to read their lines. Casting calls were organized with the help of Cheerleader Casting, a specialty casting service, that provides studios and networks with profiles of real cheerleaders needed for acting, background, stunting as well as dancers for parts in movies, television, web-series, music videos and commercials. 

 

"We are continually amazed at the enthusiasm and reaction we get from not just cheerleaders and dancers, but fans who have watched the series and love it enough to come out and audition," said Lance Robbins, Executive Producer on the series. "Whether they have experience or not, there is some amazing talent out there, and we were very pleased with the turnout."

 

"In addition, there were hundreds of submissions for roles in the show as both actors and extras to play roles as cheerleaders which came in directly to our offices," said Cindy Villarreal, CEO of the CC.  "The phones were ringing off the hook for nearly 3 weeks after our first announcement."  

                

There are 6 lead actors to be cast, 4 female and 2 male, but there are many supporting roles that will be filled with real cheerleaders, including members of the "Cheer Channel Superstars of All-Stars".

"Secret Diary Of An American Cheerleader: First Crush"

Cheer Channel Inc. (CCI), the #1 online news and entertainment multi-channel network for the spirit and dance industry, announced production dates for Season 3 of its popular dramatic franchise, Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader. 

"First Crush" centers around a young cheerleader's online chat with a boy she has never met, exposing her to the potential danger teens and young adults face when dealing with the anonymity of the internet and social media. Everyone may not be who they claim to be. Season 3 is written by Chelsea Steiner. "First Crush" begins with Lexie, a cheerleader with the Firestorm All Stars, who has a secret. It's her first crush with a boy she has met using Snapchat, Vine and Flirt! It proves to be all the better for Lexi since it is easier for the shy teen to 'talk' to a boy online rather than in person. While her bffs and teammates Lacey and Emily insist on meeting her "mystery man", Lexi becomes frustrated and confused when efforts to arrange their first date meet up are always canceled at the last minute. When Lexi's new 'boyfriend" is finally revealed, nobody is prepared for the shocking twist that could upset Lexi's chances at love and the outcome at National's that would settle a score with Firestorm rivals, the Cal Tri-City Elite All-Stars. 

"First Crush" will begin casting this week in Los Angeles for actors in starring and supporting roles. Production will begin in early May, with the series' episodes to begin airing weekly exclusively on the CCI website, starting with Episode 1 on Memorial Day weekend. The "Secret Diary" series will cast real cheerleaders and coaches in supporting roles as well as extras and performers to play roles on the fictional cheer squads. The production will also include "special guest stars" from Cheer Channel's 2013 'Superstars of All-Stars'. In addition, several lucky girls or boys will be selected from the hundreds of cheerleaders who have sent pictures, video and emails requesting to be a part of the show.

"Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader" is an anthology that features a new cast, crew and storyline each season, was created and developed by CCI founders, Cindy Villarreal and Lance H. Robbins. The show has become a phenomenon in tween and teen audiences, racking up more than 4.5 million views combined for Season 1 and 2 and over 24 million views via syndication.
